Cosmology

Cosmology is the science of the origin and development of the universe. Which has been studied and philosophied on for many centuries. When talking about modern cosmology people usually think of the Big Bang theory. Unfortunately there are some rather large misconceptions about 'Big Bang Cosmology' of which the biggest is "The Big Bang is the origin of the universe". This just isn't true. The Big Bang Theory doesn't say anything on the origin of the universe itself, but only explains that which happend after.

While discussing on Big Bang Cosmology the phrase "nothing can not create something" is often heard, when the origin of the universe is not explained through the Big Bang Theory. There are multiple explanations for the origin of the universe. Physicist Lawrence Krauss wrote "A Universe from nothing; Why there is something rather than nothing" which offers an explanation. And there, ofcourse is the 'Multiverse' which has been discussed for decades by people like Erwin Schödinger, who you know from his cat. (Which by now has been that long in that box, that it most certainly is dead.)

The most honest answer to the question "How did the Universe come to be?" is "We don't know.". It is as simple is that. We can see Cosmic Microwave Background Radiation, we can observe the 'redshift' and 'blueshift' of light and we can observe and measure many things in space. Even when the universe is vast and we can only observe a really really tiny bit. There is a lot more to cosmology than just 'the big bang' and besides the question, 'how did the universe come to be?', there are many more interesting questions to ask. Like "Is there intelligent Alien life?"
